Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise August 29, 1952 Page 12 Funeral services were held from the Coder-Anderson funeral home Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Dora Ellen Royer, 83, of Cedar Falls, who died Saturday at a nursing home in Shell Rock. She had been in the home since May. Mrs. Royer's husband was the late J. D. Royer who operated a drug store in Coon Rapids for 31 years. The store was located in the lower part of the present American Legion building and was considered, for many years, as the leading drug store in Coon Rapids. Meade Steele was an employee of the store for many years. Mr. Royer, commonly known about town as J. D., preceded Mrs. Royer in death exactly 24 years. He died on August 25,1928. Obituary Mrs. Dora E. Royer, mother of Mrs. W. D. Rich, 315 Franklin St., Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away early Saturday morning at the Shell Rock nursing home, where she had been cared for since May 1, 1952, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 11 days. Death was due to complications incident to old age. Dora Ellen Rlise, daughter of John W. and Leah Mary Rlise, was born November 12, 1868 at Sioux City, Iowa. Her girlhood was spent in the vicinity of Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa. As a young woman she was employed in the bindery department of the LeMars Sentinel, LeMars, Iowa. On January 8, 1902, she was married to John D. Royer of Coon Rapids, Iowa. They made their home in Coon Rapids, where Mr. Royer operated a drug store, until his death on August 25, 1928. Mrs. Royer continued to reside in Coon Rapids until June of 1934 when she moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to live with her daughter, Ruth, who was teaching there. She was a member of the First Methodist church of Cedar Falls, Faith chapter No. 308, O E. S. Coon Rapids, Iowa, and was a Past Worthy Matron of that organization. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter D. Rich, (Ruth) of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Zillah M. Ford of Waterloo, Iowa, and one sister Mrs. Bertha Hall of Park Forrest, Illinois. Casketbearers were Wayne Textor, John Miller, Orrin Oliver, Milo Dailey, jr., Harold Scott and Dick Van House. Burial was in the Coon Rapids cemetery, Tuesday, following services held Monday at Cedar Falls. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Rich of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Zellah M. Ford and Richard of Waterloo.
