Mrs. Royer left him a few minutes sitting in his chair, and when she returned found that life had departed. Having heart affliction, it was known that he would in all probability go away in this way. In fact, he, himself, told the writer a few weeks ago that he was likely to be summoned at any minute. Mr. Royer located at Coon Rapids in 1898 in the drug business, having but a short time before graduated in pharmacy. Being affable and capable and strongly devoted to business, he built up a good patronage. Though of late years, his health began to break, he continued his devotion to business. There were those who thought he should retire a year or two ago, but this he could not persuade himself to do and probably had he done so, would have passed on much sooner than he did. His interest in his business and its inspiration to him, give strength to the spirit and prolonged his life. Mr. Royer was an excellent citizen of fine character every way and has left many friends to mourn his passing, together with a devoted wife and two daughters, who are bound in grief over the loss of an affectionate companion and father. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Coder funeral home, conducted by Rev. W. F. Clayburg, the Masonic fraternity having charge of the services at the grave, of which organization he was a member. John Delbert Royer, son of William Wesley and Mary Royer, was born in Bristow, Iowa, January 21, 1870. He died of heart disease at his home in Coon Rapids, August 25, 1928, at the age of 58 years, 7 months and four days. Mr. Royer began his business career as a clerk in a drugstore at Hampton, Iowa. Later he completed a course in pharmacy at the State University. In August 1897, came to Coon Rapids where he engaged in the drug business which he conducted up to the time of his death. His marriage to Miss Dora Kline of Le Mars took place January 8, 1902. To this union were born to children, Leah Ruth, who teaches in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Zillah Mae of Coon Rapids. The deceased was affiliated with the Methodist Church of Coon Rapids, in which he took an active part. He was a Mason being a member of the Blue Lodge chapter, Knight Templars and Shrine. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Besides his wife and two daughters, Mr. Royer leaves one sister, Mrs. Hattie Smith and one brother, Hubert A. Royer, both of Lamberton, Minnesota. Relatives attending the funeral of Mr. Royer from a distance were H. A. Royer, only brother, Mrs. Hattie Smith, Mrs. Cora Royer and Mr. and Mrs. Clara Royer, all of Lamberton, Minnesota, Mrs. J. W. Klise of LeMars, Iowa. Mrs. Bertha Paul of Pipestone, Minnesota. Friends from out of town were Miss Alta Wilmarth of Cedar Falls, Miss Helen Hansen of Spencer, Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Gibson of Atlantic, and a number of druggist George Disch of Ames, A. Talkenhammer of Algona, and Messers. Phillips, Cunningham and Harvey, addresses not learned, M. G. and Dolsy Hufferd, Jefferson, Iowa, also Mr. and Mrs. James Corbett, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith and son, Howard, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ford, Lloyd Pulver, Mrs. Everett Bridson, all of Bayard, F. A. Toovey, Hans Lauridsen, Ben Scott, T. H. Craddock, George Tucker W. H. Waychoff, all of Dedham and G. Arthur Minnich of Carroll.
