Messman near Strang and she passed away on Dec. 29, 2009, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton at the age of 88 years, nine months, and 28 days. She was one of two children in the family. Louise spent her childhood and youth at Strang and graduated from Strang High School with the class of 1939. Louise was married to Leland H. DuBois on Oct. 15, 1940. The couple farmed near Strang until 1976 when they moved to Bruning. Two sons were born to this marriage, Dayle Allen in 1944 and Glenn Robert in 1948. Louise was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. She was also an active member of the Durham-Mammen American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 166 of Bruning. After moving to Sutton in 1996, Louise became a member of the Argonne American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 61. She was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and she was always concerned for each member of her family. Her years were filled with doing things she loved. Her family and their well-being held a special place in her heart throughout her life. Louise had many hobbies of which included reading, gardening, raising flowers, various types of needlework, knitting, crocheting and dancing. Each of her seven grandchildren received afghans constructed by her as they graduated from high school. Louise traveled throughout the United States and was always interested with the culture of other people. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and she will be sadly missed by each of them. Louise is preceded in death by her husband Leland; parents Edwin and Leta; and her only brother Darrell D. Messman. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dayle and Marlene of Saronville and Glenn and Delores of Iowa; grandchildren, Joe and Carmen Huber, Ty and Annette Yost, Jason and Teresa Majors, Jerry and Crystal DuBois, Josh and Amy Sterling, Eric Du-Bois, Brian and Laure DuBois; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Huber, Shelby and Brody Yost, Gavin, Kane and Logan Majors, Samantha, Jarod, and Cody DuBois, Ashley Sterling; and step great-grandchildren, Hannah Veik and Luke Erickson. Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton with Pastor Judy Nuss officiating. Pat Majors accompanied Ron Green in the singing of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers included Brian DuBois, Joshua Sterling, Jerry DuBois, Joe Huber, Jason Majors, and Ty Yost. Honorary pallbearer was Eric DuBois. Interment was held at the Geneva Public Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton. Farmer and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
