Description	:	Dora Gries, daughter of Henry and Pauline Gries, was born November 24, 1877 in Jackson county, Iowa and died the morning of February 28, 1953 at Harlan, Iowa. Her passing came very suddenly. She came to Shelby county, Cass twp. with her parents in 1885, one of three children. On January 22, 1896 she was married to Emery Green. To this union seven children were born, Ruby Christensen, Grant Green, Elsie Juhl, Ralph Green, Pauline Escher, Claude Green and Jennie McLaughlin. Her passing came very suddenly. She came to Shelby county, Cass twp. with her parents in 1885, one of three children. On January 22, 1896 she was married to Emery Green. To this union seven children were born, Ruby Christensen, Grant Green, Elsie Juhl, Ralph Green, Pauline Escher, Claude Green and Jennie McLaughlin. All live in Harlan vicinity except Ralph, who is a resident of Omaha, Nebraska. Mr Green died in 1943 and Mrs Green moved to Harlan in the spring of 1946. She was known to all her family and friends as "Grandma Green" and many of the local business men called her by this name. She was a charter member of the Pioneer County club. Her hobby was crocheting and every chance she had she went on fishing trips. Her sister-in-law, Mrs Mable Gries of Randolph, Nebraska had spent the past 2 months visiting in her home. Only two weeks ago, Stg. James Juhl of the U.S. Marines was home on a leave and visited his grandmother. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother Will J. Gries of Norfolk, Nebraska, besides a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held from the Pauley Funeral Home Monday, March 2 with the Rev. W.W. Watson of Shelby in charge. Interment was in the Harlan cemetery. Acting as pall bearers were Russell Hansen, Mervin Schnack, Hugo Boeck, Stewart McDonald, Glenn Best and Willard McLaughlin. Harlan Tribune Harlan, Iowa March 13, 1953
