Had Suffered Cerebral Hemorrhage 2 Weeks Ago; Services Today Miss Dora Kruse life long resident of La Porte City and vicinity, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday in Schoitz Memorial hospital, Waterloo, where she had been a patient for two weeks. Death resulted from heart complications that followed a cerebral hemorrhage two weeks earlier. Dora Maria Kruse was born the daughter of John and Anna (Struve) Kruse Feb. 11, 1891 southeast of La Porte City on a farm in Bruce township, Benton County. She grew to womanhood on the home farm and resided there until moving to La Porte City with her mother in the spring of 1936. Telephone Operator For the past 10 years she had been employed as a telephone operator for the Farmer’s Mutual Telephone Co. of La Porte City. Previously she worked as a practical nurse. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church and its Aid society and Dorcas class and belonged to Thistle Rebekah Lodge No. 261, the degree staff of the lodge the Past Nobel Grand Circle and the Community club. She is survived by three brothers, Henry Kruse of La Porte City, George Kruse of Waterloo and William Kruse of Seattle, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Henry Thede of La Porte City; six nephews; three nieces and 15 grand-nephews and nieces. Her parents, one brother, one nephew and one grand niece preceded her in death. Services Today Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon in the Evangelical United Brethren church at 2 o’clock. Rev. M.E. Spark, former pastor of the church, conducted the service with the assistance of the pastor Rev. LeRoy Carter. The Rebekah lodge gave its ritualistic service at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Knos accompanied by Mrs. Cliff Burr sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and Next the Cross.” Laurel Wilder, Miss Lenora Kruckenberg, Mrs. Truman Jackson and Mrs. Paul Wienands of the telephone company were in charge of the flowers.Pallbearers were neighbors, Charles Ruppert, Cecil Gates, Albert Gross, Andrew Gonnerman, August Stahnke and Leo Steffens. The body was laid to rest in the family plot in West View cemetery.
