Dora Mathilda Lafrentz, daugther of Henry Lafrentz and his wife Katherine Jurgensen was born December 8th, 1882, on the Isle of Fehmarn, Germany in the city of Burg. She was both baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany. She came to this country in November 1902, first residing in Marshall County, Iowa and a year later making her home in Crawford County. On March 2, 1910 she was married to Cornelius Schroeder. The couple had three sons. Her husband died December 11, 1914. On August 30, 1920, she remarried and became the wife of Thomas Schroeder. The Lord blessed them with one daugther. Thomas Schroeder died in Schleswig on December 9, 1956. She was on the farm for many years in Goodrich Township, moving to Schlesiwg in 1941. Because of failing health, she made her home at Eventide the past 6 years. She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital after a short illness on Saturday, the 15th of January. She attained to 89 years, 1 month and 7 days. She was a long time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig and belonged to the Ladies Aid Society. She was preceded in death by her husbands Cornelius and Thomas, her first born, who died in infancy, her third son Cornelius, who was killed in a car accident, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son J. Henry and her daughter Luella, wife of Ralph Reincke, both of Denison, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Gary Koch, Fred Beeck, Dennis Hamer, Wilbur Chaney, Peter T. Jepsen, and Tommy Schroeder. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery.
