On Wednesday evening, Oct. 29, at 7:30 o'clock, a quiet wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ross, when their daughter, Dorothy Anna, was united in marriage to Jacob B. Stindt, Rev. Chr. Sick performing the ceremony. The bridal couple was attended by Miss Emma Ross and Henry Krueger. Only their immediate relatives were present. The bride was becomingly attired in a gown of pale blue messaline veil and wreath. The bridesmaid wore a dress of dark blue. After the ceremony the guests partook of a fine wedding supper. Mr. and Mrs. Stindt will reside on the Metzger farm five miles northeast of Crab Orchard. They have a large circle of friends who join in best wishes for their future welfare. =============================== Mrs. Dorothea Anna Stindt was born October 18, 1894, near Sterling, Neb., to Dirk Ross and his wife, Antje nee Ross. She was baptized on October 28, that same year by Pastor O. Lompe. She was instructed in the Christian Faith and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling, Neb., on April 14, 1911, by Pastor Chr. Sick. She lived with her parents between Sterling and Crab Orchard until her marriage to Jacob B. Stindt, which took place in the same church as she was confirmed and by the same pastor on October 29, 1913. The couple settled down in the Sterling area where they remained for about 10 years. They then spent a year in Scott county, Kan., then moved to Republic county, Kan., spent eight years on a farm six miles east of Republic, then were 17 years on a farm three east and one south of Republic and for the last 11 years have lived at their present home, four miles east and two miles south of Republic, Kan. To this couple was born a son and a daughter, both dying at birth. In 192 (sic) they adopted a son, Arnold, who now lives one-half mile east of their home. In 1935 they took in a homeless man, Claude Holmes, who made his home with them until his death one and one-half years ago. While he was there, Mrs. Stindt gave him a large part of his Christian instruction. They belonged for a time to a Lutheran church in Republic, which disbanded. In 1938, they became members of St. Paul Lutheran church (sic), Byron, Neb., to which church she belonged until her death. Mrs. Stindt had suffered many illnesses and hardships during her life. She had been ill since the fall of 1959, underwent surgery in December and came home. She became bedfast about nine weeks ago and died at her home of cancer on Tuesday, June 28, 1960. She reached the age of 65 years, eight months and ten days. She leaves to honor her memory her husband, Jacob of Republic; a son, Arnold of Republic; a grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brauer of Deshler, Neb., and Mrs. Emma Kruger of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, John Ross of Lincoln, and other relatives and friends. Gifts given in her memory will benefit equally Concordia Lutheran church of the Air; Blue Valley Lutheran Home, Hebron, Neb.; and American Lutheran church, Belleville. Funeral services were conducted on July 1, 1960, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church, Byron, Neb., by the pastor Dennis D. Mueller.
