Read More	Boone County Democrat September 25, 1913 One of the old residents and most highly respected of our people died on Sunday morning at 7:15 o’clock in the person of Mrs. H.R. Henning. Death took place at the home of her son, Carl Fritz Henning, 1924 Marshall street, where she has resided for years. The deceased was taken ill last spring with an attack of pneumonia. She practically recovered but about six weeks ago was taken ill again and sank rapidly until death ensured. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Carl Fritz Henning residence, 1924 Marshall street, and from the German Lutheran church at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. Otto Erbe, the pastor, conducted the last sad rites, the sermon being both in English and German, and the remains laid to rest in Linwood Park cemetery beside those of her husband and son who preceded her. A large number of old friends of the Henning family attended the funeral. Dorotha Meins Henning was born at Ant. Trittan, Schaleswig Holstein, Germany, on august 10, 1837. When eight years of age she was left an orphan and was adopted by a family who lived at Schoenwalde. She attended the schools there and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. When sixteen years of age she went to a neighboring village of Autin where she lived for four years and where she met Henry R. Henning of Ahrensboeck, where he conducted a bakery. She lived for several years in Hamburg. In 1864 she was united in marriage to Mr. Henning and they lived in Ahrensbroeck about a year. In 1865 they came to America, Carl Fritz Henning being only a few months old. Arriving at New York they proceeded to Davenport where the husband obtained employment in a bakery and after working a few months they came to Boone (then Montana) arriving here on October 6, 1865. For forty eight years she made Boone her home. Her husband engaged in the bakery business and followed it for thirty years, a great part of the time in the building just west of the present Virginia theatre. To Mr. and Mrs. Henning seven children were born, four sons and three daughters, two sons and three daughters dying in infancy. Adolph and Carl Fritz were left. Adolph learned the baker’s trade from his father and was associated with his father and brother in the grocery and bakery business for a number of years. Adolph died in May, 1900, aged thirty years. A few months later his father died at the age of 63. Carl Fritz is the only remaining child. In the death of this good woman the community suffers a distinct loss. She has left a heritage of a good Christian life to her son and grandchildren that is invaluable. In their hour of sorrow they have the sympathy of the community.
