A memorial service was held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, Ariz. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Read More	CHANDLER, Ariz. : Doris Allison Kehoe, 98, formerly of Osage and Greene, died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Ana's Haven in Chandler, Ariz. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, Ariz. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. She was born on Sept. 27, 1916, on a farm in northern Iowa, to Ira and Hazel (Bryant) Allison. Doris attended a one-room rural school for her first eight years of formal education. Piano lessons from her mother and accompanying the class at the opening exercises each school day developed her musical talent and began her lifelong love of music. She played the violin and sang in many church and community choirs throughout her life. Doris taught four years in rural schools, and attended Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, to qualify to teach in town schools. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Laverne. Doris enlisted in the Waves of the US Navy in 1944, after Laverne was drafted by the Army. Following their active service, Laverne and Doris were married on Aug. 17, 1946. They had five children. In 1957, Doris returned to teaching in the Greene Community Schools, until her retirement in 1979. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1965 after many years of correspondence, night, and weekend classes. Doris was an active member of her church and community, singing in choirs, acting as Den Mother in Cub Scouts, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, playing cards with family and friends, and enjoying her PEO women's organization. Doris moved to Seattle in 1994, after the death of her husband. She enjoyed living nearer to family and relocated to Chandler, Ariz. in 2000 with her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by children, Greg (Linda), Carolyn (Bill) Thomason, Kathy (Rudy Ramos) Kehoe, Colleen (John) Horngren; four grandchildren, Pam (Scott) Bussard, Jenny (Danny) Budiu, Kim (Brandon) Hooker, and Erin Chairez; five great-grandchildren, James, Jack, Luca, Ellery, and Stella; and nieces and nephews.
