Olson of Eureka, died of breast cancer with complications from Alzheimer's Disease, on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Aldersgate Village – Norwich, in Topeka, at the age of 82. She was born on November 30, 1927, in Bern, the daughter of Hollis and Emma (Brezina) DaMetz. During her early years the family lived in several different communities, including Rosalia, before settling in Eureka in Doris' sophomore year. She graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1945. In 1946, Doris was united in marriage to Lee Austin Olson in El Dorado. They made their home in Eureka. Doris was an active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Eureka Business Women, and the Christian & Congregational Church. Lee preceded her in death in April 1997. Doris is survived by six children; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Max DaMetz of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 1, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Maureen Howard of the Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O.
