Description	:	Doris A. Howell, age 87, of Coshocton, Ohio USA passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. She was born on August 26, 1923 to the late Samuel Charles and Gertrude May Gibbs, in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. Doris was educated in the church of England Girls School. Howell, age 87, of Coshocton, Ohio USA passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. She was born on August 26, 1923 to the late Samuel Charles and Gertrude May Gibbs, in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. Doris was educated in the church of England Girls School. During World War Two she was employed by Smith and Sons Aircraft factory, making instruments, automatic pilots, and other controls. The factory was formerly a watch and clock Swiss business. Doris met her husband, Leo Edward Howell, while he was serving with the U.S. Army 463rd Engineers at Aschurch near Tewkesbury after D-Day. They were married October 4, 1945 at Tewkesbury Abby Church of England. In June 1946 she joined her husband in Coshocton, Ohio. She was employed 30 years in the calendar finishing department at Shaw Barton retiring in 1985 as Group Leader. Doris was a member of Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church since 1953. Leo and Doris enjoyed traveling after retirement, returning to England numerous times to enjoy being with family and friends. Doris is survived by two sons, Gary Edward (Tana) Howell, and David Lee (Debbie) Howell; five grandchildren, Amy (Craig) Young, Jodi (Jonathan) Kellish, Jill Perrico, Cassie (Nick) Martucci, and Seth (Laura) Howell; and ten great-grandchildren, Fletcher Young, Kaitlin Young, Riley Kellish, Leah Kellish, Madison Kellish, Sydney Perrico, Giovanni Martucci, Giada Martucci, Siena Howell, and Kane Howell; brother, David Gibbs of Wales, United Kingdom; four sisters, Gladys, and Joan of England, and Joyce and Eileen of California; and numerous nieces and nephews living in England, Scotland, Canada, and the United States. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo who passed away on December 19, 1996; parents, Samuel and Gertrude Gibbs; sisters, Winifred and Mavis; and brothers, Fred, Thomas, Norman, and Gilbert Gibbs. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor James Macdonald officiating. Burial will follow at Canal Lewisville, Ohio Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. at the Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton. Contributions may be made in Doris's name to the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church, 198 E. Church St., Coshocton, OH 43812. An online memorial can be viewed at www.given-dawsonfuneralhome.com.
