Description	:	Doris Jeanette Haxton was born May 2, 1932 at her parent’s farm in Carter Township, Burke County, North Dakota. She was the fifth of ten children born to Harvey and Elise (Peterson) Haxton. Her maternal grandparents were born in Denmark and her paternal grandparents were “Yankees” giving her a rich heritage of blended nationalities. She and her siblings began school in a country school house and Doris graduated in 1950 from the Bowbells Public School. Read More	Doris Jeanette Haxton was born May 2, 1932 at her parent’s farm in Carter Township, Burke County, North Dakota. She was the fifth of ten children born to Harvey and Elise (Peterson) Haxton. Her maternal grandparents were born in Denmark and her paternal grandparents were “Yankees” giving her a rich heritage of blended nationalities. She and her siblings began school in a country school house and Doris graduated in 1950 from the Bowbells Public School. Doris held fast to her confirmation vows and was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Bowbells. She always had a sympathetic heart for those who struggled and encouragement to those who were discouraged and was known for her kindness. She spent hours reading in her Bible and enjoyed studies and discussion about the readings. She married Clarence Cron on October 30, 1950 and remained together in Bowbells for 58 years until his passing in 2009. Doris was actively involved with the farming all the years of their married life. In addition, she was a Minnesota Township Assessor for many years up until 2010. Over the years she also worked at Glen Wilson Insurance, the Burke County Tribune and the Country Truck Stop. She was an excellent cook/baker and enjoyed baking, along with quilting, playing table games. She and Clarence square danced in their early years and she had a great deal of fun bowling in leagues and tournaments for many years. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and friends. Doris passed peacefully from this earthly life to her heavenly home on November 17, 2017 at Chander, Arizona. On June 23, 2018, a celebration of the life of Doris was held on June 23, 2018 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bowbells, and her ashes were laid to rest by her beloved Clarence in the Bowbells Cemetery.
