Description	:	Doris Mae Schmid, 82, of Columbus, formerly of Silver Creek, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Murry Jay Johnston officiating. She attended school in Clarks and graduated from Clarks High School in 1951. She then graduated from the Grand Island School of Beauty. On Aug. 29, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Julius Schmid in Clarks. They lived in Genoa for a short time before moving to a farm near Silver Creek, where they lived for many years. After working as a beautician for a few years, Doris went to work at Vishay, where she worked for 42 years. They later moved into Silver Creek and then moved to Columbus three years ago. Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. She enjoyed going shopping, to casinos and to garage sales. Doris loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, Julius Schmid of Columbus; daughters, Pam (Don) Schultze of Columbus and Wendy (Loren) Mangelsen of Bassett; three grandchildren, Mick (Jill) Smith, Matt (Ashley) Beier and Molly Mangelsen; four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Austen, Payton and Brianna; sister, Judy (Joe) Bohaboj; and brothers, Wayne (Pat) Ostrander and Myron (Barb) Ostrander.
