Description	:	Doris Quick, 95, was a longtime resident of Springfield. She spent most of her life in the area. From the hill of Pleasant Grove Chapel, where she was married in 1946, she could see several locations where she lived: Buffenbarger Road and two farms on North River Road. Nearby was the house on Possum Road, the last house that she lived in with her parents and which remains in the family. Doris Louise (Wise) Quick, second daughter and third child born to Jesse C. Wise and Louise (Skillings) Wise was born July 7, 1923. She had four siblings: • Howard L. Wise (deceased). • Marian Bernice Battin (Ray, deceased), Los Angeles, California. • Jesseray Lamar Wise (deceased), Wapokoneta. • Rhett S. Wise, Springfield, Ohio. Doris went to Cross Roads Elementary School, Pitchin Elementary and Junior High School, and graduated in 1941 from Enon High School. She worked at Crowell-Collier, then International Harvester during World War ll, where she worked in the office and was involved in the production of half-track trucks for the military. After raising her family she enjoyed working with special needs children at TAC Industries for 21 years. She married James L. Quick (deceased) in 1946 to whom she bore five children: • Ronald (Vickie) Quick of Springfield. • Diane Quick, Los Angeles, California. • Gerald [or Jerry] Quick of Florida and Springfield. • Brenda [or Suzy] (Bill) Marsh of Golden, Colorado. • Lori Ann (Charleric) Lenglain of Forest Hills, New York. Surviving are four grandchildren: • Dean (Maegan) Loggins, Colorado. • Melanie (Tony) House, Colorado. • Gemma Quick, California. • Alexander James Quick, Springfield, Ohio. Two great grandchildren: • Julian House, Colorado. • Jasmin House, Colorado. Two sisters-in-law: • Pat (Ed) Richards. • Laura Wise, Wapokoneta. One step grandson, Jason (Melissa) Rupert, and one step granddaughter, Emilie Jeanne Lenglain. Doris was very close to numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and was known for paying attention to birthdays and life events. She wished that several special friends be remembered: Charlotte Reisinger, Barb Ridenour and Nick Loggins. Doris was instrumental in the beginning and development of Quick Manufacturing, which Jim Quick started with his father in 1946 upon getting out of the navy after the war. The business, which Jim grew rapidly, produced outdoor power equipment, and with nearly 500 employees was one of the 3 largest in the industry. In 1966 the company and Toro merged.
