Woehrle, 75, who died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. W.D. Jones, in North Platte June 22, were held in the Methodist church in Elwood Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, the services being in charge of Rev. Kent H. Clifton, who used as his text Phil. 4:3; "Whose names are in the Book of Life." Rev. Eatererbrook, of Overton, a friend of the family, led in prayer. Short services were held in North Platte Saturday morning by Lutheran and Methodist ministers of that place. Miss Dorothea Gross was born in Wurtenburg, Germany, February 6, 1858. She came to America in 1882 and made her home with a sister at Rock Island, Ills. May 27,1882, she was united in marriage to Mathias Woehrle. They lived in Rock Island three years and in 1885 came to Elwood where they purchased a tree claim northwest of town. They made this their home until 19 years ago. To this union were born eight children: Mrs. Geo. Thompson, Elwood; Mrs. J.L. Miller, Bushnell; Mrs. Minnie Stevens, Walsenberg, Colo.; Mrs. W.D. Jones, North Platte; Mrs. Bert Bennett, Sioux City, Ia; Chris and Fred, Lexington; and Wm of Elwood. She is survived by the eight children, 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, four sisters, Mrs. A. Schwenninger, Hastings, Mrs. Katherin Kellenberger, Viola, Ills., one sister in Switerland and one in Germany. Following the death of her husband July 23, 1914, she continued to make her home on the farm for five years, living with Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Jones in North Platte. Mrs. Woehrle united the German Lutheran church at the age of 14 years. Committal lines were read at the Elwood cemetery in the presence of relatives and friends, where interment was made beside the grave of her husband.
