Woehrle Chris Woehrle Lena Dorthea Woehrle Fred E. Woehrle Marie Woehrle William J.Woehrle Matthias Woehrle was born in Baden, Germany, Aug 11, 1851. At the age of fourteen he united with the German Lutheran Church. He came to America in the spring of the year of 1872. On May 27, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Dorothea Gross. To this union were born eight children all of whom are living. He departed this life on July 23rd, 1911, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 12 days. The names of the children follow: Mrs. Geo. N. Thompson, Hastings, Nebr; Mrs. J.L. Miller, Parker, Nebr; Mrs. W.M. Stevens, Kelley, Colo; Chris, Lena, Fred, Marie and Will of Elwood. All the children were home for the funeral except Mrs. Miller, who was detained on account of sickness. She sent her husband To Elwood to be at the funeral. Besides his wife and children the deceased leaves two brothers and one sister. Fritz Woehrle Davenport, Iowa was present at the funeral. The others are Jake Woehrle, Chicago, ILL., and Lena Meier, Baden, Germany. The funeral was held at the home of the deceased on Sunday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. J.B. Roe of Elwood preached the funeral sermon from the words found in Ps 119:19. The mixed quartette from Elwood furnished the music. The remains were interred in the Elwood cemetery.
