Born November 22, 1917, in Odebolt, Iowa, Dorothy Allegra Ohden was the daughter of John Albert and Minnie Alyda (Petersen) Engstrom. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1937, then attended the American Institute of Business, graduating in 1939. Dorothy was employed as a secretary for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Des Moines, Marshalltown, and Chicago. She returned to Odebolt in 1944, where she worked for Iversen Transfer Company, retiring in 1952. On June 30, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jacob Renke Ohden in Odebolt. Dorothy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Friendship Circle, and three bridge clubs, including Twilight Bridge Club. She also was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. Enjoyed embroidery, hanging out her laundry, and collecting stuffed teddy bears and penguins. Survivors include a son and his wife, John and Jessica Ohden of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jake in 2001; an infant son, Thomas; a daughter, Jean A. Andrews; her parents; three brothers, Kenneth and Ellison Engstrom, and a brother in infancy.
