She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where she attended grade school and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1935. Dorothy married Charles Lynn Nownes on September 24, 1936 at the County Court House in Logan, Iowa and to this union five children were born: Judith, Patricia, Charles Jr., Larry and Susan. Read More	Obituary Source Unknown Dorothy Alma (Stevens) Nownes was born on April 22, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska to Arnold and Albina (Koukalova) Stevens. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where she attended grade school and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1935. Dorothy married Charles Lynn Nownes on September 24, 1936 at the County Court House in Logan, Iowa and to this union five children were born: Judith, Patricia, Charles Jr., Larry and Susan. After a short move to Texas, Dorothy and Lynn moved back to Omaha into the house on south 78th St. when it was way out in the country among farms. Dorothy spent most of her married life working as a homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors, tending her flowers, reading, sewing, cooking and canning. She and Lynn enjoyed travelling and were blessed with a 65th Wedding Anniversary. Her granddaughters fondly remember visits that included hot tea with honey. Dorothy was a giving woman who loved her family and treasured her time outside. Dorothy passed away on April 10, 2008 at her home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 89 years 11 months and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Albina, four brothers, one sister, son Charles, Jr. and husband Charles Arthur Lynn. Dorothy is survived by son and daughter-in-law Larry and Georgia of Omaha; daughters and son-in-law Judith Murphy of Ewing, NE, Susan and Roger Dowling of Scribner, NE and Patricia Lowry of Omaha, NE. several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Arnold Stevens of CA. ***************************************************** Father; Arnold Oscar Stevens, b 18 Jan 1893 in Nebraska (per draft registration, Jan 1895 per 1900 census.
