Interment will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a Altar Society Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements. Dorothy passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE. Dorothy Gentrup was born on September 20, 1938 at West Point, NE to Anton and Elizabeth (Hunke) Bracht. She attended and graduated from Guardian Angels School in 1956. After graduation, she worked in the Cuming Co. School Superintendent’s Office. On August 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to Fred Gentrup at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE. The couple made their home on a farm north of Beemer, NE. Dorothy worked part-time for several years at Bracht Furniture and had worked at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community for eleven years prior to her retirement. Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, its Holy Cross Catholic Women, was a CCD teacher and played the organ for 45 years. She had served as President of the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and was a former 4-H leader. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and tending to her flowers. Survivors include- Husband-Fred Gentrup of Beemer, NE Children and their families- Son- Michael Gentrup of Beemer, NE Daughter-Joyce and Jeff Wangen of Rapid City, SD and children-Kaden, Nate & Xavier Son-Gerald and Fran Gentrup of Wisner, NE Son-Russell Gentrup of Carlyle, IL Daughter-Janet and Tim Diedrichsen of Lincoln, NE and children-Tyler & Sara Son-Roger and Nicole Gentrup of Albion, NE and children-Derek, Dylan & Sophia Brothers-Leonard and Marian Bracht of West Point, NE Ed Bracht of West Point, NE Paul and Vera Bracht of West Point, NE Vic and Judy Bracht of West Point, NE Sister-in-law- Millie Bracht of West Point, NE Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother-Norbert Bracht, and a sister-in-law-Helen Bracht.
