Description	:	Gram was born Dorothy Butz in Midwest, Wyo., on Feb. 8, 1928, to Anna and Peter Butz, joining brother Irvin and sister Marge. She married Louie Day Jr. on Aug. 20, 1946. They raised their two sons, Dan and Pat, in southwest Montana, finally settling in Sheridan in 1963. A few years later, Dorothy Day became forever known as Grandma Dory. She married Louie Day Jr. on Aug. 20, 1946. They raised their two sons, Dan and Pat, in southwest Montana, finally settling in Sheridan in 1963. A few years later, Dorothy Day became forever known as Grandma Dory. Gram dedicated the whole of her life to her family. She was our teacher and mentor, a true craftswoman in the art of homemaking. She always took the extra time to make things perfect. Grandma Dory circumnavigated her humble beginnings by working hard and living frugally. Her resiliency became the foundation for her timeless grace and dignity. During her childhood, Gram wore clothes made from fabric scraps her mom brought home from work. In her teens, she resided in Billings at her aunt's boarding house where she worked for her room and board while going to school. Gram wasn't yet 17 years old when she left Montana to do her part in the war effort — assembling parts for war ships in Alameda, Calif. She shared memories of renting a room in a beautiful old Victorian home where there was a "parlor" for entertaining guests. Post World War II, Grandma returned to Billings where she fell in love with my Grandpa, who was freshly home from the Army. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Indian Creek five days before her passing on Aug. 25, 2012. Join her family to celebrate her life on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Jackson's Garden in Sheridan. Memorials may be made to the Ruby Valley Hospital.
