Description	:	Dorothy Caroline Hoffman was born at Tea, SD, on May 6, 1913, the daughter of William and Albertha (Bakker) Hoffman. She attended elementary school in Tea and graduated from Lennox High School in 1931. She attended Eastern Normal College in Madison for one year and five summers. She then taught school west of Tea for six years. On Feb. 25, 1938, she married Edward Jacobson at her parents home in Tea, north of Lennox, and northeast of Hurley until Edward's death in 1957. Read More	Dorothy Caroline Hoffman was born at Tea, SD, on May 6, 1913, the daughter of William and Albertha (Bakker) Hoffman. She attended elementary school in Tea and graduated from Lennox High School in 1931. She attended Eastern Normal College in Madison for one year and five summers. She then taught school west of Tea for six years. On Feb. 25, 1938, she married Edward Jacobson at her parents home in Tea, north of Lennox, and northeast of Hurley until Edward's death in 1957. She had taken night classes to renew her teaching certificate, because her husband was ill. She moved into Lennox and taught rural school west of Lennox for four years. She then taught in Lennox for the next 25 years. Dorothy graduated from Southern State College in 1963, having earned a bachelor's degree. Dorothy had a stroke in July 1997. Following rehabilitation at Covington Heights Care Center in Sioux Falls, she resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Lennox. She attained the age of 86 years, one month and nine days. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father in 1970; her mother in 1978; brothers: Harvey Hoffman in 1990, and Ernest Hoffman in 1996; sister, Laura Renback in 1995, and one brother in infancy. Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters: Verlyss Jacobson of Lennox, Vyona Bultena and her husband, Roger, of Lennox, and Vynita Jacobson of Watertown; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Harry Hoffman and Bernice Albers Lovrien of Sioux Falls, Edna Buus of Lennox, and Bernard Hoffman of Harrisburg.
