Description	:	Edna Hoffman Buus, age 96, formerly of Tea, SD, died on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2011. Edna was born on July 9, 1914, in Tea, South Dakota, to William and Albertha (Bakker) Hoffman. She received her education there and continued her education at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls graduating in 1932. Following her graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for a number of businesses in Tea including Weise's Lumber, the Tea Elevator, and Peters Store and as a clerk in the Post Office. Edna was born on July 9, 1914, in Tea, South Dakota, to William and Albertha (Bakker) Hoffman. She received her education there and continued her education at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls graduating in 1932. Following her graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for a number of businesses in Tea including Weise's Lumber, the Tea Elevator, and Peters Store and as a clerk in the Post Office. On March 7, 1937, Edna was united in marriage with Henry G. Buus at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tea, SD. They farmed in the Tea area their entire working life. The couple made their home at Primrose Retirement Community (which they loved) in 2003. Edna was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea, SD, where her strong faith in God and her love of the Church led her to be very active in the Ladies' Aid. She was the "Family Rock" always willing to help in any way possible, whether supplying fruits, flowers and vegetables from her garden, taking care of the sick or cutting the hair of all of the children in the family. She was an excellent seamstress, making her own clothing, tailoring, crocheting, embroidering and preparing meals for her family and friends. Edna was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed. Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Vyrjil Buus and his wife, Karin, of Ellington, CT, and Vernon Buus and his wife, La donna, of Verdi, NV; four grandchildren, Bryan Buus and his wife, Sarah, Nicole Buus, Ellen Buus, Scott Carlson and his wife, Tara; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Alexander and Nathaniel Buus; and one sister, Bernice Albers Lovrien of Sioux Falls. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, William and Albertha Hoffman; husband, Henry Buus; two sisters, Dorothy Jacobson and Laura Renback; five brothers, Harvey, Harry, Ernest, Bernard and infant brother, William Hoffman.
