Mrs. Marquis passed away suddently of black small-pox at Minneapolis, where she has made her home the past several years. A short time ago she came to Colfax, with the remains of her husband who was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. At this time she visited her relatives in Oskaloosa. Mrs. Dora Marquis was born in Yorkshire, England and came to this country with her parents when a small child. She grew to womanhood near Oskaloosa, in Mahaska county. She passed away November 2nd at Minneapolis with black small-pox. During her residence in Des Moines she became a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She leaves three sons Arthur, Fred and Albert to whom she was a kind and loving mother and they will greatly miss her. Her mother, Mrs. C.H. Tann of Oskaloosa and five sisters, Mrs. J.F. Graham of Colfax, Mrs. Wm Suggett, Mrs. J.W. Lichtenheld, Mrs. M.H. Adey of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Blain of Des Moines and brother, John Adams of Bovey, Minn., also mourn the loss of this loved one. All but her brother were present at the funeral services in Colfax.
