(Bradwell) Rowland Boyle Campbell, 94, of Sioux City, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Holy Spirit Nursing Care Unit from M.S., dementia and complications from a stroke. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen of Holy Spirit Retirement Home and Don Wood of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Osage (Iowa) City Cemetery in the summer of 2011. Dorothy was born Feb. 29, 1916, on the family farm near Meltonville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Mary Ellen (Simpson) Bradwell. She attended Otranto (Iowa) High School and later in life, she attended A.I.B. in Des Moines. She was married to M. Herbert Rowland in 1932. He died in Germany in 1945. She married M. Edward F. Boyle in 1949 and he died in 1971 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She later married M. Theron "T.A." Campbell in 1976 and he died on their ninth anniversary in 1985, in Waterloo, Iowa. She lived on the farm in St. Ansgar, Iowa, from 1932 to 1937, in Waterloo from 1937 to 1946. Bayard, Iowa, from 1946 to 1948 and Waterloo from 1948 to 1949. She also lived in St. Augustine, Fla., from 1940 to 1950, Springfield, Mo. from 1950 to 1951, Greensboro, N.C. from 1951 to 1952, Des Moines from 1952 to 1957, Cedar Falls, Iowa from 1957 to 1976, Waterloo again from 1976 to 1999 and Sioux City from 1999 to 2010. She was a member of St. Ansgar Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo. She was a member of the Elklets, Waterloo Women's Club, and was a 50-plus year member of Cedar Falls Royal Neighbors of American, where she served in various offices. She also was a member of a Cedar Falls American Legion Auxiliary since the end of World War II, where she served as president. She received an award for her poetry from the Women's Club of Iowa. She was a volunteer as a Red Cross nurse after work during World War II at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. She was a dyed in the wool Cub fan. She enjoyed writing poetry, reading crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Roland Hinds of Sioux City; a grandson, Mark (Ann) Hinds of Sioux City; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Hinds (Jon) Case; great-great-grandchildren, Alex, Charlotte, Jack and Benjamin, all of Sioux City; a grandson, Steve (Maureen) Hinds of DeSoto, Texas; great-grandsons, Justin and Jared of Dallas and Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Lynne Hinds (Walter L.) Peterson of Sioux City; great-granddaughter, Alexis and Spenser, all of Sioux City; a nephew, Brad (Cathy) Woodiwiss of Lone Tree, Iowa, and a grandniece, Joli Vollers of Ames, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Ellen Bradwell; sisters, Edna Woodiwiss of Osage, Iowa, Isabel "Sally" Vitteteaux of Des Moines; and three cousins raised as brothers, Donald Simpson, Robert Simpson of Austin, Minn., and Gordon Simpson of Osage, Iowa. Memorials may be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or to Beverly Hinds for a Lewis and Clark project (info: call Bev).
