She was born in Warwick County, now Newport News, on December 18, 1919 to the late Robert M. and Ruth Hertzler Holloway. Dorothy was a long time member of the Warwick River Mennonite Church and helped her late husband, and others, establish the Calvary Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker, Mother, and a Pastor's wife. Read More	NEWPORT NEWS - Dorothy Holloway Burkholder passed away at the age of 97, on Friday, May 5, 2017. She was born in Warwick County, now Newport News, on December 18, 1919 to the late Robert M. and Ruth Hertzler Holloway. Dorothy was a long time member of the Warwick River Mennonite Church and helped her late husband, and others, establish the Calvary Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker, Mother, and a Pastor's wife. The church and church functions were a major part of her life. She was born on a farm, and married a dairy farmer, who was called into the ministry approximately 15 years later. Mennonite ministers at the time were not paid, so they continued to farm until the growth of the Denbigh area made farming difficult. She is survived by a son, Nelson Jr., daughter-in-law, Katherine, and granddaughter Kristen, all of Newport News. Other survivors include two brothers, Milton and Maurice Holloway; and a sister Ruth Ann Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Nelson David Burkholder; a son, Sanford; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Holloway. There will be a graveside service at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Warwick River Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Church. Arrangements by W. J.
