Description	:	Dorothy I. Hollowell, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River. Dorothy was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Worms to Arthur and Bertha (Noffke) Niemoth. She was preceded in death by: husband, John C. Hollowell, and son, James Hollowell. Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita Vejvoda, Sharon and Jerry Bady, all of Grand Island and Mardell and Steve Larson of Funk; daughter-in-law, Mary Hollowell of Grand Island; nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and sister, Viola Hefner of Grand Island. Dorothy was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Worms to Arthur and Bertha (Noffke) Niemoth. She was preceded in death by: husband, John C. Hollowell, and son, James Hollowell. Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita Vejvoda, Sharon and Jerry Bady, all of Grand Island and Mardell and Steve Larson of Funk; daughter-in-law, Mary Hollowell of Grand Island; nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and sister, Viola Hefner of Grand Island. Dorothy grew up on a farm near Worms and received her education at Zion Lutheran School. She lived on the farm until moving to Grand Island in 1943. Dorothy was united in marriage to John C. Hollowell on Nov. 26, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The couple moved to Topeka, Kan., in 1944 where she worked for Meadow Gold. They returned to Grand Island in 1945, where she helped her husband at the family business The Insurance Agency Center. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church until 1974 when she was baptized in the Church of Christ. She was a current member of Stolley Park Church of Christ. Dorothy was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking for others and making silk flowers. Dorothy was also preceded in death by: parents; son-in-law, Bill Vejvoda; brother, Elton Niemoth; and brother-in-law, Bud Hefner. Burial was in the Wiegert Cemetery, Hall County, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on March 16, 2012
