She died at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska, on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 11 days. She grew up on a farm north of Nelson, Nebraska. She was the only child born to that union. She died at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska, on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 11 days. She grew up on a farm north of Nelson, Nebraska. Laurine attended Bethel District #27 Country School. Later, her family moved south of Nelson to run a dairy farm. Laurine graduated from Nelson High School in 1944. She then began working at the Nelson ASC Office. In 1948, she was married to Don Rust of Nelson. Last year they celebrated their Golden anniversary. She took great pride in her family and kept up with all their activities and accomplishments. Throughout her life, she worked at Hesteds, Montgomery Ward. At the time of her death she sold Avon, which she had done for 13 years. Laurine was a very social person with a great sense of humor. She loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was a genuinely kind and special woman who would go out of her way to make someone happy. She built up a multitude of friends from many different communities and always stayed in touch with all of them. Preceding her in death were her parents; and one son-in-law, Leroy Royal. Survivors include her husband Don of Geneva, Nebraska; one son, Steve Rust and his wife Mary of Geneva, Nebraska; three daughters, JoDee Mika and her husband Paul of Exeter, Nebraska, Jan Myers and her husband Kurt of Geneva, Nebraska, and Jeanne Royal of Lincoln, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, Brandee Mika and her fiance Ryan Norris of Beatrice, Mike Mika of Exeter, Lisa Blake and her husband Aaron of Grand Island, Jamey Myers and his fiancee Melissa Kamler, Matt Myers, Christopher (C.j>), Tiffany, Marcus and Kyle Rust, all of Geneva, and Amanda Royal of Lincoln. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at United Methodist Church in Geneva, Nebraska, with the Revs. Brian Kottas and Wanda Bennett officiating. Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied C.J. and Tiffany Rust who sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace". Casketbearers were her 10 grandchildren. Graveside committal services were held at 3:30 p.m. at Nelson Cemetery. Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, August 5, 1999; pg. 12
