She was born on her mother's birthday, March 20, 1928 in Stockport at the home of her parents, Ralph E. and Edna M. Brown Morris. She graduated from Ollie High School in 1945 as valedictorian of her class and married Robert E. "Bob" Poole in June 7, 1947 at the Stockport home of Bob's brother and wife, Stuart and Selma Poole. Read More	Dorothy Louise Poole, 86, of Stockport died Peacefully on September 20, 2014 at Jefferson County Health Center, Fairfield. She was born on her mother's birthday, March 20, 1928 in Stockport at the home of her parents, Ralph E. and Edna M. Brown Morris. She graduated from Ollie High School in 1945 as valedictorian of her class and married Robert E. "Bob" Poole in June 7, 1947 at the Stockport home of Bob's brother and wife, Stuart and Selma Poole. Bob died on February 10, 1983. In her early married years, Dorothy worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown, while Bob went to barber college. She spent most of her working days as a bookkeeper and office worker. Places of employment included Iowa State Bank, The John Deere Store, Dr. R.W. Gustafson's office, McAlister Feed & Grain and Prairie Grain Co, Inc. all of Stockport. She did bookkeeping for Midwest Factoring of Fairfield, V&J Pigs of Stockport and her husband's barbering business, as well as the Birmingham and Stockport Laundromats that she and Bob owned and operated. She was the Stockport City Clerk for a number of years, and was employed at the Stockport Center of the Van Buren Schools for many years as the school secretary, and then later as the elementary school librarian. She believed a job worth doing was worth doing right. In 1997, Dorothy survived a life-changing brain aneurysm. She fought back, and remained in her Stockport home (in the last years with the assistance of her nephew, Dennis Dorothy)until 2012 when she moved to Heritage Estates Apartments in Stockport. She remained there until a health decline beginning in June of 2014. Dorothy was a long time member of, the Stockport Christian church and the Stockport Legion Auxiliary and was a 4H leader for a number of years. She was know for her positive attitude, her love of the Lord, her family and friends, reading, and being outside in nature and was considered somewhat of a family historian. Dorothy is survived by her children, Dr. Michael(Sharon)Poole of Keosauqua, Marsha(Gary)Loeffler of Birmingham, Robert Kirby(Penny)Poole of Nevada, IA and Shelly(Tony)Huffman of Stockport, her grandchildren, Marni Loeffler Starnes, Korby Loeffler, Kully Loeffler, Megan Poole Hartwig, Robert Ian Poole, Sarah Poole, Adam Poole, Laura Poole Van Winkle, Jacob Poole, Spenser Huffman, and Taelor Huffman; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brycen Starnes, Owen, Izaak, Ava, Landry and Aubrey Loeffler and Stella Louise Myers; a brother, Ron(Janice)Morris of Stockport, a sister, Marcene Dowell of Davenport and brother, Terry(Jane)Morris of Keosauqua; a step-sister, Karee(Ray)Johnson of Birmingham; a brother-in-law, Donnie(Shirley)Dorothy of Fairfield, and a sister-in-law, Donnie(Shirley)Dorothy of Fairfield, and a sister-in-law, Audrey Poole Smith of Burlington; nephew and dear friend, Dennis Dorothy and many other nieces and nephews, and friends that she loved dearly. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Eldon Briden, a sister, Margaret Dorothy and many members of her large extended family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday September 24, 2014 at the Stockport Christian Church, Pastor Richard DeVore officiating. Visitation will open at 3 pm Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with family present from 5-7 pm. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery, Rural Stockport. Memorials to Friends of Morris Park, Hospice Compassus, the Stockport Christian Church or charity of donor's choice may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 14797 Jasmine Avenue, Birmingham, IA 52535.
