Description	:	DOROTHY M. HAUPTMEYER, 94, of Fort Wayne, died at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at her home. She was born September 16, 1914 in Harding County, Ohio a daughter of Benjamin and Jennie F. (Mahan) Dear. Her formative years were spent Kenton, Ohio. In the 1920s, the family moved to Ari, Noble County, IN and then to Columbia City. In 1936 she married Russell Coverstone. They made their home in the Columbia City area later moving to Fort Wayne. HAUPTMEYER, 94, of Fort Wayne, died at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at her home. She was born September 16, 1914 in Harding County, Ohio a daughter of Benjamin and Jennie F. (Mahan) Dear. Her formative years were spent Kenton, Ohio. In the 1920s, the family moved to Ari, Noble County, IN and then to Columbia City. In 1936 she married Russell Coverstone. They made their home in the Columbia City area later moving to Fort Wayne. Mr. Coverstone was killed in an auto accident in 1945. In 1948, she married Robert Hoyt. On July 7, 1957, she was united in marriage to Carl W. Hauptmeyer. They made their home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Hauptmeyer died December 18, 1996. She is survived by a son, Steve (Jan) Hoyt, Fort Wayne; two granddaughters, Johnna (Ken) Scheele and Meredith Hoyt, both of Fort Wayne, seven great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Dear, Columbia City and a sister Margaret Mumma of Auburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John J. Dear; four sisters, Lenora Walker, Lois Osgood, Doris Britton and Evelyn Groves. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. James Clifford, pastor of Laud Christian Church, officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
