Description	:	Dorothy M. Glidden, 87, of St. Paul died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Grand Island Veterans Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Auxiliary services will be presented by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of St. Paul. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Dunning Cemetery at Dunning. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Glidden was cremated. Mrs. Glidden was born May 30, 1919, at Weld County, Colo., to William and Myrtle (Comrow) Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis Platz, and a daughter, Orilla Mae Jensen. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Lee Glidden of the Grand Island Veterans Home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Raymond Evans of Grand Island and Ella and Danny McCray of St. Paul; and a sister, Loretta McCalment of Kennewick, Wash. Additional survivors include four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was raised in Colorado and moved to Blaine County when she was in her teens. She was united in marriage to Ellis Platz on June 14, 1940, in Stapleton. They moved to Gypsen, Colo. Two daughters were born to this union. Mr. Platz died Oct. 13, 1947. Dorothy then moved back to Dunning. On Jan. 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lee Glidden at Dunning. One daughter was born to this union. She worked at the Halsey National Forest. The couple moved to Greeley County in 1966 and then to Howard County in 1973. On July 29, 2006, the couple moved to the Grand Island Veterans Home. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, fishing and hunting. She had a special love for babies and having family dinners. Dorothy was a former member of VFW Auxiliary in Dunning. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Mindy Sue Green; a grandson, Ryan McCray; five sisters, Betty, Florence, Bonnie, Pauline and an infant sister; and six brothers, Fred, JR, Buck, Doc, Don and an infant brother. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
