Description	:	On July 31, 1932 Lester and Grace Halter brought a baby girl into the world and named her Dorothy Mae, the eldest of 5 children. The Halter family lived in Sunburst, MT and later moved to Great Falls where Dorothy attended school and graduated from Great Falls High in 1950. Read More	On July 31, 1932 Lester and Grace Halter brought a baby girl into the world and named her Dorothy Mae, the eldest of 5 children. The Halter family lived in Sunburst, MT and later moved to Great Falls where Dorothy attended school and graduated from Great Falls High in 1950. After high school, Dorothy began work at Farmer's Stockman. When not working, Dorothy and her great friend Norma Durham loved to go to the Brass Rail on 10th Ave. South. One fateful evening, a strapping young man asked her to dance. Coincidentally, this young man had moved in across the street from her parents and rented a room in a neighbor's house. She would spend the next 68 years of her life by his side. On September 1st, 1951 Dennis Christianson and Dorothy Halter were married. They brought two sons into the world, Dennis Alan in 1952, and Kenneth Lee in 1955. In 1960 they purchased their first home on 9th Ave. S. W. They would live there for the next 30 years. Dorothy, Dennis and their friends and families on both sides loved to camp together. They liked spending time at various lakes around Montana. After many years of camping, they purchased their own lakeside paradise on Holter lake in 1980 where there would always be projects to do. It became tradition that family and friends would gather to play cards, pontoon fish, water ski, and make smoked jerky. When they weren't camping, Dorothy enjoyed walking, bowling, reading, playing bingo, traveling, but most of all spending time with family and friends. Dorothy had taken a break from work when her sons were young but continued her work career after getting her sons off to school. She went back to work at Farmers Stockman until it became the Great Falls Tribune in 1967. She worked as the head of the Circulation Department in charge of their data processing center for the next 23 years until her retirement in 1990. Ken and Elsa had their first son, Derrick Alan, in 1987 and their second son, Devyan Lee in 1989. Dennis and Dorothy began thinking about moving to be closer to the grandchildren. Dorothy retired and soon they moved to Aurora Colorado on March 31st, 1990. They attended all their grandson's sports. Dennis took pictures and video to capture their every move. Dorothy would give Dennis a hard time about taking pictures (especially of her). They took yearly trips back to Montana to vacation at their home on Holter lake and spend time with their Montana grandson's Tyler Alan born to Michelle and Alan in 1991 and Nathan Ryan in 1993.They saw many a tennis match, basketball game and baseball tournament. They would also visit Dorothy's brother Jerry and his family who lived in Helena. Dorothy and Dennis were always sharing their vacation experiences with family and especially loved cruising with their sons' families. They took notable trips to Hawaii, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean as well as traveling to the Northeast to watch the changing of the colors with brother Harry and his wife Joyce. They took trips out to the Seattle to see Dorothy's sister Margie and her husband Bob. They also enjoyed going to San Antonio to visit family with sister Barbie and her husband Jim. Dorothy and Dennis were lovingly referred to as "Grandma and Grandpa" by everyone that knew them. Dorothy had some adorable sayings, "I'm going to beat you on your head" and "Hey you, yourself" became staples of her love language. Dorothy had relatively good health until later in life when she had a scare with breast cancer. She took radiation treatments and was able to overcome that health crisis. Dorothy died of kidney failure on January 22nd, 2022. Dorothy is survived by her sons Alan of Helena, MT (Michelle) Ken of Aurora, CO (Elsa) Grandsons Derrick Christianson (Jen), Devyan Christianson (Amanda), Tyler Christianson (Jordan), and Nate Christianson (Salo). She was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Jaxon Lee, and she finally got her girl with the birth of Azlina Mae, her name sake. Dorothy is also survived by brother Harold Halter of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and sisters Margaret Stewart of Des Moines, WA and Barbara Miles of Buckeye, Arizona. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Grace and Lester Halter, her husband Dennis and brother Gerald Halter. A memorial service will be held April 23, 2022 at Noon at Croxford Funeral Home,1307 Central Ave, Great Falls, MT followed by internment at Highland Cemetery.
