She was born March 23, 1927 in Ottumwa to Jesse and Cecelia Skinner Owings. Dorothy married William Harry “Bill” Patrick on April 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2001. Dorothy attended Ottumwa High School and was a homemaker. She and her husband moved to California in 1954, residing in Garden Grove for 18 years and in Burbank for 40 years. Dorothy had been a resident of Texas since 2013. While an Ottumwa resident, she was a member of Davis Street Christian Church. Surviving are sons, James Patrick of Denton, TX and Stephen and his wife, Marian Patrick of Corinth, TX; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Patrick Jr.; two brothers, Hubert and Laurence Owings. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
