Description	:	William Hubert Owings, 91, formerly of 1323 Glenwood Ave., died at 11:45 pm June 27, 2011, at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Ottumwa to Jesse W. and Anna C. Skinner Owings. He married Thelma R. Carl on May 24, 1941. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1939, he served with the U.S.Army during World War II. Hubert worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 38 years, retiring as supervisor in 1978. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Carol(Arlin)Anfinson of Ottumwa; a son, Richard Owings of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Derek Anfinson of Toledo, Iowa, Tracy(Berry)Dietsch of Marion, Ryan Owings of Kansas, Jesse(Brandy)Owings of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Austin Owings of Fargo, N.D.; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Patrick of Burbank, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Owings. Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Luers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B.Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreighn Wars.
