Dorothy Marie Ashley was born October 4, 1910, at Bronson, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Sutton) Court. She attended schools in Bronson and Luton areas. She married Marvin Ashley August 17, 1932, at Yankton, South Dakota. He died March 27, 1984. They had lived in Anthon before moving to Sioux City in 1934. In 1936 they moved to a farm northwest of Anthon. In 1944 they moved to their present farm where she was living with her daughter, Sheryl. Dorothy was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church and held several offices in the Women's Society of Christian Service, was an active Farm Bureau member for many years and belonged to Thonna Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include four sons, Edward and Connie of LeMars, William and Betty of Anthon, Charles and Diane of Logan, Arthur and Dee of Anthon; four daughters, Mrs. Lester (Beverly) Hueser of Hubbard, Iowa; Mrs. Richard (Jean) Petersen, Mrs. Calvin (Joyce) Gothier and Sheryl L. all of Anthon, 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Vivian Conners of Cussick, Washington, a sister-in-law, Lillian Court of Sioux City, a brother-in-law, Neil Klukas of Cadott, Wisconsin, a sister-in-law and her husband, Bernice & Donald Fey of Anthon, a sister-in-law, Catherine Ashley of Evergreen, Colorado, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Theodore Klatt, her husband Marvin, a sister, Lois Klukas, two brothers, Frank and Todd Court, two brothers-in-law, Cecil Adler and John Ashley and a granddaughter, Michelle Wood.
