Dorothy was born Oct. 28, 1906 at Tekamah, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl Edwin and Clara M. (Brately) Remington. She spent her earlier years in Nebraska and South Dakota where she attended grade school. Her father homesteaded southeast of Big Sandy. Dorothy attended the Sheep Coulee school and graduated from Belt High School. She taught at the Hopp and Cantigny Schools in the country. On July 28, 1926, in Havre, MT, she married Fritz F. Osterman. After their marriage the couple lived at the Osterman ranch southeast of Big Sandy where they farmed. In 1931 a son Fritz W. Osterman was born to them and they got their daughter when Fritz married Marjory Hanson in August of 1953. The family moved to Sheep Coulee in 1935 where they made their home until Fritz's death in 1980. Then Dorothy lived on the farm in summer and stayed in an apartment in Big Sandy in the winter. She enjoyed gardening and handwork, horseback riding, dancing, and getting together with friends. She was an active member of the Big Sandy VFW Auxillary Post #6107, and the American Legion Lodge #166. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Osterman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Fritz W, Osterman; three sisters, Anna Barrick, Gwen Krumsick, and Ethea Ayers; four brothers, Carl Remington, Jr., George Remington, Harold Remington, and Richard Remington. She is survived by two sisters, Thelma Nelson of Lewistown, MT, and Nadine Malmstrom of Boise, ID; daughter-in-law Marjorie Osterman of Great Falls; grandson, W. Scott Osterman of Moraga, CA.
