Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 12 Nov 1980 Fritz Osterman, Big Sandy Area Native, Died Nov. 6th Fritz Osterman, 76, who was born on his parents' homestead on Eagle Creek on the stage and freighting route to old Fort Claggett at the Judith, died in a Great Falls hospital Thursday, Nov. 6, 1980, only a few days after he and his wife had moved to Great Falls because of his ill health. He was the son of Herman and Elizabeth Jarmuth Osterman. His father, German born, came to Montana from Wyoming in 1885 and four years later from White Sulphur Springs to Big Sandy, settling on Eagle Creek that year. His mother came to Big Sandy in 1898 and married Herman Osterman that year. The ranch was a way station for stages and freighters, and community center. Fritz grew up there and attended local schools. He and Dorothy Remington were married in Havre in July 1926 and and lived on his ranch on the ferry route. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Big Sandy and the Eagles in Havre. Surviving are his wife; a son, Fritz W. Osterman of Great Falls; one grandson; brother, Herman A. Osterman of Big Sandy; and a sister, Anna Sanders of Kalispell. His parents died in 1961 and 1963, and a brother, Marvin, in 1968. Services for Fritz Osterman were Monday in the Big Sandy Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven McCaughan officiating. Burial was in Big Sandy Cemetery.
