Hoye, age 96, of Manhattan, formally of Iola, died Thursday November 12, 2015 at the Autumn Hills Retirement Home in Riley, Kansas. She was born on January 29, 1919 in Humboldt, Kansas, daughter of Henry and Idessa (Michael) Stranghoner. She grew up in the area and graduated from the Yates Center High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Fred Hoye in Iola, Kansas. Fred preceded her in death. Dorothy worked for the City of Iola for many years until her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Iola community until 2005 when she moved to Manhattan to live with her daughter Brenda. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Brenda Hallauer (Gene), Marilyn Lee (Bill), and Sharon Bowles (Tom); grandchildren: Caleb Hallauer, Zane Hallauer, Randy Hallauer (Deb), Jennifer Hallauer, Allyson Braun (Bruce), Tamara Moore (Nick), Scott Lee (Nichole); great-grandchildren: William Braun, Andrew Braun, Collin Moore, Braden Bauer, and Benson Bauer. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday November 17, 2015 at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.
