She was baptized in Christ at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak, and confirmed there on April 2, 1944, also at St. Paul. Read More	Dorothy Pauline Jepsen was born March 3, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Augusta Hintz Ackelbein. She died at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the age of eighty-two. Dorothy was born on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak, and confirmed there on April 2, 1944, also at St. Paul. She received her education in a rural school near her home and at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Hanover Township, Charter Oak. On May 8, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edward Jepsen at St. Paul's Parsonage, Hanover Township, by Rev. Nagler. The couple made their home on a farm and were blessed with the birth of three sons. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, babysitting her grandchildren and looking forward to the Christmas holiday and wrapping gifts. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, baking bread, and embroidering. In her leisure time she enjoyed word puzzles, "Seek and Find", playing Chinese Checkers, Euchre, and "May I" with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing in Spirit Lake, Lake View, and local ponds. Dorothy and Edward enjoyed dancing, especially Polka at the Five Mile House south of Westside, and in Denison. In most recent years she enjoyed watching television. She was always fair and treated everyone the same. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward in 2006, two brothers, Duane and Herbert; and three sisters, Leona, Erma, and Viola. Survivors include her three sons, Dennis and his wife, Pat; Kevin and his wife, Tama; and Marlon; six grandchildren, Bethany, Cara, Amanda, Paul, Eric, and Michael; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail, Calen, Emma, Elizabeth, Keegan, and Jeremiah; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, November 5, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Timothy Frank officiated the services and graveside rites held at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover Township, in Charter Oak. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "Be Still My Soul," "How Great Thou Art," and "I'm But A Stranger Here." Honorary Pallbearers were Cara Jepsen, Amanda McNeese, and Bethany Fee. Serving as Pallbearers were Eric Jepsen, Michael Jepsen, Paul Jepsen, Stanley Nading, Chris Fee, and Alonzo McNeese. The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch provided by Staley's and the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home of Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
