Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 9 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Knierim. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 8 at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Dorothy is survived by many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces who loved her dearly and will miss her wonderful smile and tender caring heart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arvid Carlson, her parents, Henry and Clara Strutzenberg, and all her sisters and brothers, Arthur Struzenberg, Carrie Strutzenberg, Henry Jr. Strutzenberg, Albert Strutzenberg, Walter Strutzenberg, Ella Markert, and Emma Markert. Dorothy was born February 14, 1914 in Knierim, Iowa. On August 20, 1939, she married Arvid Carlson. Arvid worked for Fort Dodge Laboratories in Fort Dodge and later was transferred to Des Moines where Dorothy worked for Iowa Power in her last job. After several years in Des Moines they eventually came back to Fort Dodge to retire. She became active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, serving in Circle and other activities. Dorothy was a most wonderful aunt who cared so much for her extended family. She cooked fabulous meals and could make pies that were ever so tasty. And she always enjoyed family get togethers in her home where she always would prepare a delicious snack or meal, depending on the occasion. She also liked to travel, play cards, watch baseball (especially the Cubs), and writing beautiful letters and notes to all her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all. Family prefers memorials be given to the building fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
