Dorothy first made her home with her Grandpa and Grandma, Meindert and Gretchen (Doyen) Pruin; and was later taken in and raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Bert and Jennie (Pruin) Schoon, who became parents to her. Read More	Dorothy Ruth, was born on September 3, 1921 in Pocahontas, Iowa, and graduated from Pocahontas High School. Dorothy first made her home with her Grandpa and Grandma, Meindert and Gretchen (Doyen) Pruin; and was later taken in and raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Bert and Jennie (Pruin) Schoon, who became parents to her. On February 1, 1942, Dorothy married Lloyd Rennie in St. Joseph, Missouri. Before her marriage she had a job working for the Government. She also worked as a Nurse's Aide in the Emmetsburg Hospital and Care Facilities in Fort Dodge. In 1962, Dorothy and her children moved to Fort Dodge. Dorothy loved to do hand-work, painting, cooking, and gardening. For 30 years, Dorothy dressed dolls for the annual bank event. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, where she volunteered with getting the church bulletins ready for Sunday Worship. She was also a member of the Fort Dodge Garden Club, The Woman's Club, and the Blanden Art Museum all in Fort Dodge. Dorothy was of German decent. Dorothy was Baptized into the Christian Faith in 1921, and was Confirmed into the same Faith in 1935, both at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, IA. She had been a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, and also the German Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Dorothy Ruth Rennie, died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center, in the afternoon at the age of 88 years, five months, and four days. Dorothy is survived by her four children: Karen Sanders of Wasilla, Alaska; Duane Rennie of Melbourne, Florida; David Rennie and Dean Rennie both of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild; her sisters: Dolores Hacker of Humboldt, IA; Janice Maag of Lincoln, CA; Alice Johnson of Lehigh, IA; and brother: Donald Schoon of Lorraine, KS. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Meindert and Gretchen (Doyen) Pruin; parents, Bert and Jennie (Pruin) Schoon; daughter, Linda Hart in 1987; a brother, Lawrence "Larry" Schoon in 2003; and a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Hacker in 2008.
