She was baptized January 24, 1943 and confirmed April 14, 1957 all at St. Johns Shell Creek. Dorothy received her education at District 44 Platte County and graduated from Columbus High School in 1960. On June 19, 1960, Dorothy married Vance D. Finecy at St. Johns Shell Creek. Dorothy and Vance lived on the Family farm her Great Grandfather Benning homesteaded. She helped with the farm operation and always had a love for her family farm. She was a member of St. John's and served as a officer in Sunday school and helped with Bible school. Dorothy worked four years at Lakeview High School helping in the kitchen and cafeteria. Later on she cleaned homes with her two daughters for many years and cared for her Mother. Dorothy was a member of the Nite Owls extension club, Sprigs and Sprouts garden club, Twice Blessed Mother of twins club, and two Sheepshead card clubs. Dorothy embroidered a baby quilt for each of her twenty grandchildren. Many cakes and decorated cookies were made for her family and friends. Dorothy spent many hours playing games, cards, and yatzee with her grandchildren. Dorothy and her husband Vance enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards especially Sheepshead, and traveling with friends and family.
