| Description | : | Dorthea was born July 15, 1861, in Clayton County, Iowa, the middle child of eleven children born to Christian and Dorthea Bruggemann Lau. Her parents were natives of Germany. She completed her common school education at Elkport, Iowa, and attended religious instruction and was baptized and confirmed in the German Methodist Church at Elkport. On February 3,1881, at the age of 20, Dora Lau and William Greimann were married.
