The Northern Nebraska Journal of Ponca, Nebraska, dated February 20, 1913, includes the Obituary of Dorus Ann Davis LeGro, as follows: OBITUARY The funeral services of Mrs. Robert LeGro were held Saturday afternoon in the Presbyterian church, Rev. J.B. Roe delivering the sermon. The church was full to overflowing. The Rebekahs' were present in a body, wearing the lodge regalia, and placed on the coffin a large and beautiful floral offering. The community deeply sympathizes with the bereaved husband and children in their great loss. Dorus Ann Davis was born March 2, 1875, in Union County, So. Dak. She was united in marriage to Robert E. LeGro, Nov. 4, 1895. To this union five children were born, two of whom were girls and three boys. They are as follows: Flossie, age 16 years; Orpha, age 14 years; James, 12 years; Modiste, 9 years; and Freeman, age 1 year. Three brothers and four sisters survive to mourn her loss. They are Thomas Davis, Elk Point, S.D.; George Davis, Lehi, Iowa; Beaden Davis, Gregory, S.D.; Mrs. Samuel Eslick, Elk Point; Laura Eslick, Elk Point, S.D.; Alpha Yusten, Ponca, and Martha Wills, Kalispell, Montana. She joined the Methodist church on the central circuit in 1906. Soon after that, she with her family moved to South Dakota. When they moved to Ponca, she was too ill to go to church very much. In her last sickness she did quite a little praying, and she said she was prepared to go. Her heart yearned over her children to the last. Her cross in leaving this world, was because she was leaving her children motherless. She departed this life, February 13, 1913, having lived 37 years, 11 months, and 11 days.
