Melvin, son of Garth and Irene Melvin, was born June 7, 1949, at the Mary Lanning hospital (sic) in Hastings, Neb., and passed away Jan. 5, 1950, near Angus, Neb., at the very early age of 6 months and 29 days. He leaves to mourn his going his father, mother, an older brother, Dennis D., two grandmothers, Mrs. Florence Blevins and Mrs. Gertrude Skinner, one step grandfather, Charley Skinner, all of Edgar, neb., two aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Grossman of Edgar and Mrs. Nora Wehrman of Nelson, three uncles, Don and Deane Blevins and Max L. Melvin, all of Edgar; other relatives and a host of friends. A sweet lovable baby, such as little Douglas was, could have been nothing less than a precious gift sent from Heaven to brighten our lives for a very short time, but God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to again transplant this dear one in Heaven where he is waiting with beckening (sic) hands. Funeral services were held at 3:00 o'clock Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Christian church (sic) in Angus, with the Rev. Robert Embree in charge. Mrs. Merton McCartney and Mrs. Archie Melvin sang "Jewels," "Beckoning Hands" and "Safe In The Arms of Jesus," with Miss Vera Shafer at the piano. The pallbearers were Floyd Linville, Ray Peters, Wayne Stevens and Wayne White. Flower girls were Mrs. Floyd Linville, Miss Mildred Judy and Mrs. Wayne Stevens.
