Description	:	Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, October 13, at the Taylor Evangelical United Brethern Church, Rev. C.R. Anderson and Dean Donner, officiating. Mrs. Ted Moon accompanied Mrs. John Dunne and Marlin Britton. The selections were "Going Down the Valley", "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". The Military rites were in charge of the American Legion. The Pallbearers were Theo.Cole, Charley Ralls, Fred Rush, Ted Goos, Frank Hardy and Ernest Hardy. Interment was at Taylor Cemetery. Lewis Bernard Sears was born April 27, 1920 in Custer County, Nebraska to Ernest and Evelyn Sears. He grew to manhood and received his education at Taylor. In 1941 he began his service to his country and served in the Army artillery in the South Pacific theatre, receiving his discharge in 1945. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Benhart-Klapal Legion Post. He is survived by his father and step mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sears of Overton, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. Myron Bleach and Mrs. Bernard Garska of Taylor, Neb., one brother, Lloyd of San Francisco, CA. Infant twins, a brother and sister preceded him in death in 1923, his mother in October, 1959. Hazel Jessie Robbing was born at Sargent, Neb. Dec. 23, 1925, and lived there until her marriage in 1945. She received her education in the Sargent schools and followed the teaching profession. She taught rural schools in Custer, Blaine, Loup, and was currently teaching a rural Cherry County school. She is survived by her mother and step father, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Deal of Sargent, NE her father Fred Robbing of Alliance, NE and one sister, Mrs. Marie Hammond of Denver, Colorado. Douglas Ernest Sears was born January 18, 1955, at Sargent NE to Hazel and Lewis Sears of Taylor, NE. He began his schooling at Taylor and for the past two years attended a rural school near his home in Cherry County where he was a 4th grade student. For nearly three years he was a member of the Assembly of God primary Sunday School class. He is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Deal of Sargent, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sears of Overton and Fred Robbing of Alliance, NE. Hosts of friends and relatives mourn the tragic deaths of a family who lost their lives in a highway accident near Halsey, NE early Saturday morning, October 10, 1964. Lewis, age 44, his wife Hazel, age 38 years and son Douglas, age 9 years old. Many communities were shocked and saddened by the triple tragedy, particularly at Taylor where they have made their home. The past two years they had lived on a ranch north of Thedford, NE, but continued to maintain their home here and returned frequently to attend business matters. Lewis and Hazel were married December 17, 1945 at Philipsburg, Kansas and ten years later their son Douglas was born. For a number of years Lewis was engaged in either trucking or ranching and operated a business in Taylor and at Brewster, NE for a time.
