Description	:	OBITUARY: Dovie M. Burns, 88, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House following a brief illness. Born April 24, 1921, in the Caledonia Community, she was the daughter of Simon Peter and Bessie Mae Nelson Taylor. She had been a former employee of Woolco and was the owner of the Party Shop in El Dorado, and had later owned a bakery in Strong. She was a homemaker and a member of Knowles Chapel Baptist Church. Burns, 88, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House following a brief illness. Born April 24, 1921, in the Caledonia Community, she was the daughter of Simon Peter and Bessie Mae Nelson Taylor. She had been a former employee of Woolco and was the owner of the Party Shop in El Dorado, and had later owned a bakery in Strong. She was a homemaker and a member of Knowles Chapel Baptist Church. Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her husband, Eugene Burns; two brothers, Edwin Taylor and Willis Taylor; and one sister, Mittie Gathright. Survivors include two daughters, Rita Ward (Bennie) of El Dorado and Leasha Smith (Billy Ray) of Strong; and two sons, Gene Burns (Julia) of El Dorado and Robert Burns (Paula) of Strong. Also surviving is one sister, Georgia Wysinger of Alexandria, La.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Burton and the Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Centerpoint Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home.
