He was born January 27, 1925 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of Jesse J. and Mayme (Bodey) Roesser. He was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church. He was a 1942 graduate of Rosewood High School, a 1955 graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He served as a Staff Sergeant with Army Air Corps during World War II, was a member of the 446th Bomb Group with the 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division. He was a member of Pharos Lodge Number 335 Free and Accepted Masons of Saint Paris,Ohio, Champaign County Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine Club, Champaigan County Scottish Rite Club, a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, a member of the Omega Tau Sigma Veterinary Fraternity at the Ohio State University, the Ohio State University Medical Alumni Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the 2nd District Veterinary Medical Association, the St. Paris Lions Club, retired Captain of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary at Springfield, Ohio, National Rifle Association, Champaign County Chapter of "Ducks Unlimited", Sons of the American Revolution, American Association of Retired Persons, a life time member and Past Commander of Keith Cretors Post 148 of the American Legion at Saint Paris, a life member of the Philip Grieser Memorial Post 7645, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Saint Paris, Ohio, and was a Past Commander of the Champaign County American Legion. He was self employed Veterinarian, and also was a retired Veterinarian with State of Ohio Department of Agriculture. He is survived by his wife, Freda (Overholser) Roesser, whom he married on February 6, 1947; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Mark Petty of Urbana, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Dibert of Degraff, Ohio, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Erwin of Granville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Matthew Petty. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 1993 at 10:30 a.m. in Rosewood United Methodist Church, Rosewood, Ohio with Rev. R. J. Davis Church Pastor officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home, Saint Paris, Ohio. Also on Tuesday from 9:30 until time of service at 10:30 a.m. in the Rosewood United Methodist Church Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Funeral Home. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Saint Paris, Ohio. Military graveside services will be held Tuesday at the cemetery by Philip Grieser Memorial Post 7645 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Johnson-Saint Paris Emergency Medical Services or the Rosewood United Methodist Church. Envelopes available at the Funeral Home and at the church.
