Description	:	David Daniel Neher, age 85, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008. Dr. Neher was born on July 12, 1923 in McCune, Kansas. He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia (Pat), whom he was married to for 58 glorious years. He is also survived by his daughter, Prudence Nell Neher of Corpus Christi, his sons, George David Neher of Austin, and Edwin Eugene Neher of Branson, Missouri, a brother, Raymond (Paula) Neher of Las Cruces, New Mexico and two sisters-in-law, Edwina Neher of Flippin, Arkansas and Diana Neher of Arizona.... He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia (Pat), whom he was married to for 58 glorious years. He is also survived by his daughter, Prudence Nell Neher of Corpus Christi, his sons, George David Neher of Austin, and Edwin Eugene Neher of Branson, Missouri, a brother, Raymond (Paula) Neher of Las Cruces, New Mexico and two sisters-in-law, Edwina Neher of Flippin, Arkansas and Diana Neher of Arizona. He leaves behind many nephews and nieces and a multitude of loving friends. His parents, Eli and Myra Neher, and his brothers, Roland Joe Neher, Robert Neher and Marvin Neher preceded him in death. David received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University (KSU) in 1946. Dr. Neher was a Danforth Fellow and a Danforth Associate. He was awarded his Masters Degree from KSU in 1948. He successfully completed and received his Doctorate in Soil Science from Utah State University in 1959. Dr. Neher taught Agriculture at KSU from 1946-1949 while working on his Masters and moved to Kingsville in 1949 where he took a position as Professor of Agriculture at Texas A&I University, Kingsville. He retired Professor Emeritus from Texas A&M System in 1991. He was a Sigma XI. David was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Kingsville where he taught Sunday school and sated his love for music with the church choir. He was also very involved with his community, volunteering with King Ranch Visitor Management and with Amistad. David was a 25+ year Mason with the Chamberlain Lodge #913. He was exalted a Royal Arch Mason and greeted a Select Master and made member of Kingsville Chapter 330/Council 267 in 1992. In 1999 he was recipient of the Golden Trowel Award. Kingsville Lions Club recently awarded David for 52 years of perfect attendance, and through both organizations, he received numerous accolades for his community service and longstanding involvement. He was a participant with his wife, Pat, in Eastern Star. David and Pat spent their retirement years traveling the globe and enjoying with friends, new and old, the histories and cultures of others. His intelligence and his humor were his greatest assets and his love for all of us his greatest gift. Dr. Neher, David, Dad was a volunteer in death, donating his organs to others so that they may have a chance at a better quality of life. He will be remembered with a Memorial Service in Kingsville at the First United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008 with Rev. Sheldon Johnson officiating and concluding with Masonic Services. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a memorial be made to any of David's passions: First United Methodist Church of Kingsville Choir Fund, The Kingsville Lion's Club, The Chamberlain Lodge #913 or Eastern Star Kingsville Chapter # 325. Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
