He was born August 29, 1920 in Hillsboro the son of the late Starling and Ethel Carr Ambrose. Ambrose, age 86, of Hillsboro, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at his residence. He was born August 29, 1920 in Hillsboro the son of the late Starling and Ethel Carr Ambrose. He was a member of the Fall Creek Friends Church, a 60 year member of Highland Lodge #38 Free & Accepted Masons, and had served as Captain in the Dental unit of the United States Army Air Corp during W.W.II for 37 months in the Pacific Theatre. Upon being Honorably Discharged from the service, Dr. Ambrose returned to Cincinnati where he practiced dentistry for three years. He then opened the Dr. D.L. Ambrose Dentist Office on Locust Street in Wilmington where he practiced for 35 years. He then returned to Highland County to open an office near Rocky Fork Lake where he practiced for 12 years until he retired after 52 years as a practicing dentist. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Hook Ambrose, to whom he married May 18, 1952 in Wilmington; two sisters, Jean A. Head of Hillsboro and Harriett G. Duckwall of Milford; sister-in-law Dorothy Hook of Wilmington; niece Janice Carrozzella of Cincinnati; and three nephews, Eric Mathews of Hillsboro, Gene Hook of Martinsville, and Larry Dean Hook of Dayton. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. H. Scott Latimer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord military honors. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Fall Creek Friends Church, 11345 Karnes Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133, or Community Care Hospice, P.O. Box 123, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
