Description	:	Lt., U.S. Army Air Corps, WW II. Of congestive heart failure. He and his wife lived in Bethesda, MD, for more than 40 years, before they moved to Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, MD, in 2003. He married Aurelia "Pat" Watson Brown in 1943. She died in May of 2008. Dr. Brown was the oldest son of the late Frank Brown, Sr. & Mildred {Yates} Brown. She died in May of 2008. Dr. Brown was the oldest son of the late Frank Brown, Sr. & Mildred {Yates} Brown. He was a 1939 graduate, with honors, of the University of South Carolina, and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was trained as a meteorologist in New York University. He and attained the rank of lieutenant. He was assigned to oversee air traffic control for the North Atlantic theater of operations in Prestwick, Scotland, and had also served on the weather prediction team for the D-Day invasion. He received his master's degree at Georgia Tech in 1950, and his doctorate in physics in 1952 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career in operations research took him to such companies as Melpar, the Union Switch and Signal Co., and Operations Research, Inc., where he was a vice president. In the early 1970s, he co-founded Cobro Corp., where he was president, retiring in 1988. Survivors include his sons, Frank (Caroline) Brown, Jr. of New York, Joseph Brown of Lovettsville, VA, & Nathan Brown of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and his sister, Mildred Brown Knowlton of Columbia. Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2009; Rev. John Kneece presided. The Twin-City News, Batesburg-Leesville, SC, Thursday, May 21, 2009.
